Doctor Who Vs. Marple: Series 2

Geraldine McEwan returned as the title character in ITV's second run of Agatha Christie's Marple. Parts one, Sleeping Murder (see this blog), and three, By The Pricking of My Thumbs (see here) both aired in February 2006. The other two stories featured these fourteen Doctor Who cast connections: 

 The Moving Finger (Published 1942 - TX: 12/2/2006)                
  • Jessica Stevenson [now Mrs Hynes] (Aimee Griffith) played Joan Redfern in Human Nature and The Family of Blood, then (that character's great-granddaughter) Verity Newman in The End of Time - she also voiced Glory Bee for Invaders From Mars (Big Finish, 2002)
  • Thelma Barlow (Emily Barton) was Lady Thaw in The Lazarus Experiment

  • Emilia Fox (Joanna Burton) voiced Berenice for Nevermore (BF, 2010) and Lady Winters for The Gunpowder Plot (BBCi, 2011)
  • James D'Arcy (Jerry Burton) voiced Michael for Paradise 5 (BF, 2010)
  • Talulah Riley (Megan) was Miss Evangelista in the Vashta Nerada two-parter (2008)
  • Stephen Churchett (in a recurring role as the Coroner) was Billy in Attack of the Cybermen
  • stunt double Rick English was a stunt performer on Tooth and Claw
The Sittaford Mystery (Published 1931 - TX: 30/4/06)              
  • Carey Mulligan (Violet Willett) played Sally Sparrow in Blink
  • James Wilby (Kirkwood) voiced Tenebris in the new BF releases, The Acheron Pulse and The Shadow Heart
  • Michael Brandon (Zimmerman) was General Sanchez in The Stolen Earth
  • Ian Hallard (Reporter) is a prolific Big Finish voice actor - he was Sabian for Primeval (2001), Mouse and Winkler for Invaders From Mars, Zeuro for Unbound: A Storm of Angels (2005), Castellan Wynter for Gallifrey: Lies and Pandora (2005), Joseph Banks for The Transit of Venus (2009), Captain Cannibal/a Suit/John Polidori for The Company of Friends (2009)
  • Timothy Dalton (Trevelyan) was Lord President Rassilon in The End of Time
  • Michael Attwell (Stone) was Isbur in The Ice Warriors, and Bates in Attack of the Cybermen
