Doctor Who Vs. Silent Witness, Series 7

The seventh run of this long-running crime drama series was first broadcast on BBC One in the autumn of 2003, and again starred Amanda Burton as Home Office pathologist Professor Sam Ryan in her final full series. William Gaminara and Tom Ward returned as the show's other regulars, doctors Leo Dalton and Harry Cunningham. 
A fifth Silent Witness novel, written by the programme's creator Nigel McCrery, was planned to tie-in with this season but remains unpublished.
This eight-part series (which averaged 7.8 million viewers) began a repeat run on the Drama channel last tonight, and featured twenty-nine Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

Answering Fire (TX: October 11 & 12)
  • Jo Joyner (Cathy) played Lynda Moss (pictured) in Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways
  • David Quilter (Coroner) and Leena Dhingra (Shaheen) both appeared in The Unicorn and the Wasp, as Greeves and Miss Chandrakala, respectively
  • David Mallinson (Bowman) voiced Brodlik for Creatures of Beauty (Big Finish, 2003)
  • Peter Brayham was also a stunt co-ordinator on The Christmas InvasionNew Earth and School Reunion
  • Nick Wilkinson was a stuntman on The Next Doctor too
  • Dani Biernat was also a stunt performer on the 2005 Christmas special, New EarthThe Sound of Drums and Amy's Choice
Fatal Error (TX: October 18 & 19)
  • Michael Bertenshaw (Whitaker) was Mr. Coles, also in the 2008 Christmas story
  • Nick Malinowski (Ricketts) and Tim Plester (Owen) both appeared in A Christmas Carol, as Eric and Servant, respectively
  • Graham Padden (Father) was Pa in Gridlock
  • Mark Frost (DS Baxter here; and DCI Sullivan in Series 18: One of Our Own) voiced Shandar for Requiem for the Rocket Men (BF, 2015), and Niccolo Machiavelli for The Ravelli Conspiracy (new for 2016)
Running On Empty (TX: October 25 & 26)
  • Jaye Griffiths (DI Jayne Hurst here; then semi-regular Professor Janet Mander from 2008 to 2012) was Jac in The Magician's Apprentice and The Zygon Invasion, and voiced Daylin for The War Doctor: Infernal Devices (BF, new for 2016)
  • Dona Croll (Diane) was Matron Casp in New Earth
  • Don Gilet (Johns) was Lance in The Runaway Bride
  • Jana Carpenter (Alice) was De Maggio in Dalek
Beyond Guilt (TX: November 1 & 2)
  • Malcolm Terris (Goveror) was Etnin in (episode 1 of) The Dominators, and the Co-Pilot in The Horns of Nimon
  • Paul Copley (Parkin) was Clem McDonald in Torchwood: Children of Earth, and voiced Dad for Spare Parts (BF, 2002)
  • Joy Harrison (Sandra) was Jill Tarrant in Death to the Daleks
  • Tony Lucken (Proctor) was De Florres in The Curse of the Black Spot, and was a stunt performer on Dalek, Bad Wolf, The Parting of the Ways and The End of Time
  • James Weber Brown (Davidson) was the Minister for In The Forest of the Night
  • Sorcha Cusack (Denise) voiced Mary Carter for the Dark Eyes 4 stories, Master of the Daleks and Eye of Darkness
