Doctor Who Vs. Life On Mars, Series 2


The second and final season of BBC One's cult fantasy drama originally aired 
from February to April 2007, and began another repeat run on the Sony TV 
channel last night.
John Simm reprised his role as the lost-in-time cop, DI Sam Tyler (pictured 
left), and would debut as the Master at the end of Utopia, just two months later. 
Philip Glenister (as DCI Gene Hunt, centre), Dean Andrews (DS Ray Carling), 
Marshall Lancaster (DC Chris Skelton), and Liz White (WDC Annie Cartwright) 
also returned for the eight part series. 
The programme's co-creator Matthew Graham, producer Marcus Wilson, writer Chris Chibnall, and directors Richard Clark and Andrew Gunn would 
all later work on the revived series of Doctor Who - twenty-eight further cast 
and crew connections featured here are:
  • Marc Warren (Crane, pictured right) played Elton Pope in Love & Monsters
  • Kevin McNally (Woolf) was Hugo Lang in The Twin Dilemma, and voiced Henry for Big Finish's The Death Collector (2008)
  • Gemma Wardle (Nurse) voiced Alys for Point of Entry (BF, 2010)
  • Big Finish artist Yasmin Bannerman (Eve) was Jabe in The End of the World, and voiced Pandora in The Bride of Peladon (2008), Dr. Helen Shepherd for The Fourth Wall (2012), and Roz Forrester for Damaged Goods (2015), Original Sin and Cold Fusion (both new for 2016)
  • Ray Emmet Brown (DC Fletcher) voiced 'No. 16' for House of Blue Fire (BF, 2011) 
  • Jonty Stephens (Witham) voiced Paravatar for 1963: Fanfare for the Common Men (BF, 2013)
  • Eva Pope (Carol) voiced Nia Brusk for Army of Death (BF, 2011)
  • Tim Plester (Rocket) was a Servant in A Christmas Carol
  • Jason Watkins (Merrick) was Webley in Nightmare in Silver, voiced the Legate of the Caliph for The Destroyer of Delights, and was the White Guardian in The Chaos Pool (BF, both 2009)
  • Ian Hanmore (Wilkes) was Father Angelo in Tooth and Claw
  • Sean Gilder (Johns) was the Sycorax leader in The Christmas Invasion
  • Ian Puleston-Davies (Toolbox Terry) voiced Angus Selwyn for Doom Coalition 3 (BF, new for 2016)
  • Katerine Kelly (Heather) was cast as Miss Quill for the forthcoming TV spin-off, Class
  • Peter Brayham  also a stunt co-ordinator on the show's first festive special, New Earth and School Reunion
  • stunt performers Tracey Caudle, Dani Biernat, Derek Lea, Crispin Layfield, Guy List and Gordon Seed all worked on the revived series too
  • stuntman Mike Lambert doubled for Mark Williams (as Brian) in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
  • Matt Wood and Simon Blackledge were both VFX supervisors on A Town Called Mercy and The Power of Three - Wood also worked on The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
  • film editor Liana Del Giudice also edited The Empty ChildThe Doctor DancesThe Christmas InvasionNew EarthSchool Reunion and The Day of the Doctor
