Doctor Who Vs. Hot Fuzz

This hit British comedy action film was released in 2007, 
and was co-written by it's lead actor Simon Pegg and 
director Edgar Wright. 
Hot Fuzz was the second instalment in the 'blood and
ice cream trilogy' which began with Shaun of the Dead
(2004), and concluded with The World's End (2013), 
all co-starring Nick Frost. 
Screened again on ITV2 last night, the film featured 
Martin Freeman, Steve Coogan, Edward Woodward, 
Paddy Considine, Billie Whitelaw, and these twenty-
eight Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Pegg (Sergeant Nicholas Angel) played the Editor in The Long Game, voiced Don Chaney for Big Finish's Invaders From Mars (2002), and narrated the first run of Doctor Who Confidential
  • Frost (PC Danny Butterman) was Santa Claus (pictured) in Last Christmas (after a cameo appearance in Death in Heaven)
  • Bill Nighy (Chief Inspector) was Dr. Black in Vincent and the Doctor
  • Eric Mason (Cooper) was Smedley in The Sea Devils, and Green in The Mind of Evil
  • James Bond actor, Timothy Dalton (Skinner) was President Rassilon in The End of Time
  • Jim Broadbent (Inspector Butterman) has actually played the Doctor twice - in the Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV sketch, Terror of the Ming Mongs (1987) and for Comic Relief in 1999
  • Kevin Eldon (Sergeant Fisher) voiced Antimony for Death Comes to Time
  • Olivia Coleman (Thatcher) was Mother in The Eleventh Hour
  • Anne Reid (Miss Tiller) was Nurse Crane in The Curse of Fenric, and Florence the Plasmavore in Smith and Jones
  • Tim Barlow (Treacher) was Tyssan in Destiny of the Daleks
  • Ron Cook (Merchant) was Mr. Magpie in The Idiot's Lantern
  • Kenneth Cranham (Reaper) voiced Tom Cardwell in Blood of the Daleks (BF, 2007)
  • David Bradley (Webley) was the voice of Shansheeth Blue in The Sarah Jane Adventures: Death of the Doctor, appeared as Solomon in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, and portrayed William Hartnell in An Adventure in Space and Time
  • Bill Bailey (the Turner twins) was Droxil in The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
  • Paul Freeman (Reverand Shooter) voiced Jalnik for The Foe from the Future (BF, 2012)
  • Adam Buxton (Messenger) voiced an Assembler for The One Doctor (BF, 2001)
  • Julia Deakin (Mary) voiced Hannah Fry for Phantasmagoria (BF, 1999), and Harriet Griffin for Terror Firma (BF, 2005)
  • stunt co-ordinator Paul Herbert was a stuntman on The End of Time
