Doctor Who Vs. Inspector Morse, Series 5

The BAFTA winning fifth season of this classic crime 
drama series was first screened on ITV in the winter 
of 1991. John Thaw, Kevin Whately, and James Grout 
again portrayed the Oxford-based detectives, Morse 
and Lewis, and their boss Superintendent Strange.
Part one was repeated again on ITV3 yesterday, and 
starred Christopher Eccleston (pictured as Terrence 
Mitchell) in only his third television appearance. This
role led to the actor being cast in his first film, Let Him
Have It, were he portrayed Derek Bentley.

  • Maurice Denham (Mandeville) played Edgeworth, aka. Azmael in The Twin Dilemma

  • Peggy Mount (Nun) was the Stallslady in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
  • Maggie O'Neill (Hilary) voiced Captain Lysandra Aristedes in five Big Finish plays - Project: Destiny (2010), Protect and ServeBlack and WhiteProject: Nirvana, and Gods and Monsters (all 2012)

  • Philip Locke (Mortimer) was both Bigon and the voice of Control in Four to Doomsday
  • Ronald Pickup (Matthews) was a Physician in The Reign of Terror, and voiced Kestorian for Time Works (BF, 2006), and Elder Bones for Spaceport Fear (BF, 2013)
  • Dicken Ashworth (Drummond) was Sezon in Timelash
  • Jeremy Clyde (McMill) voiced George for Doom Coalition 3 (BF, new for 2016)

  • Philip Anthony (Editor) and Kevin Leslie (Barman) both appeared in The Daleks' Master Plan - the former was Roald in The Nightmare Begins episode, the latter was an Egyptian Warrior in Golden Death - Leslie also had an uncredited part as a Lynch Mob Member in The Gunfighters
