Doctor Who Vs. Rebus, Series 1

The Inspector Rebus books are a series of police
procedural stories by Scottish author Ian Rankin
(born 1960), that centre on the investigations of 
DI John Rebus, and are set mainly in Edinburgh.
Thirteen of Rankin's twenty novels were adapted 
by STV Productions between 2000 and 2007 in 
four series of Rebus.
John Hannah (b. 1962) portrayed the detective
 in the first run, before being replaced by Messiah 
actor Ken Stott (b. 1954) for the remaining three 
seasons (which included The First Stone, the only
 original story not based on any Rankin work).
Ron Donachie was later cast in the title role of BBC Radio 4's own Rebus series, from 2003 to present.
Another repeat run of the first four cases
(co-executive produced by Hannah and Philip Hinchcliffebegan on the Alibi channel last night (season two also continued on the Drama channel 
at the weekend), and featured Michelle Gomez
 (as Caro Rattray in part four) and twenty other

  • Tom Watson (Dr. Slaven) was Ramo in The Underwater Menace
  • Rab Affleck (Marty) was Archie in The Name of the Doctor
  • Andy Smart was also a stuntman on Evolution of the Daleks, Let's Kill Hitler, The Rings of Akhaten and The Zygon Inversion
  • stuntman Trevor Steedman made his TV debut as a Seabase Guard in Warriors of the Deep
  • Tony Van Silva was a stuntman on Tooth and Claw too

  • prolific Big Finish actor Hugh Ross (Dr. Margolies) voiced Reverend Merodach for Night's Black Agents (2010), Robert Stretton for Industrial Evolution (2011), Vepaja for Voyage to Venus (2012), Sir Toby Kinsella for the Counter Measures spin-off series (2012-present), The Assassination Games (2013) and The Reesinger Process, Kyle Inskip for Masters of Earth (both 2014), Gethal for The Exxilons (2015), and Charles Kirkland for The Trouble With Drax (2016)
  • Mark Bonnar (DI Margolies) was Jimmy in The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People, then voiced Porteus for The English Way of Deaththe Eleven for Doom Coalition 1 (both 2015) and Doom Coalition 2, and Zoltan Frid for The Labyrinth of Buda Castle (both 2016)
