Doctor Who Vs. Spooks, Series 2

Regular series actors Peter Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, 
Keeley Hawes, David Oyelowo, Hugh Simon, Rory 
MacGregor and Esther Hall all returned for the RTS 
award-winning second series of BBC One's spy drama, 
which first aired in the summer of 2003.
Nicola Walker and Shauna Macdonald both joined the programme here, as new MI5 officers, Ruth Evershed 
and Sam Buxton, whilst Megan Dodds was reintroduced 
as CIA agent, Christine Dale.
Now extended to ten parts, season two of Spooks began another repeat run on the Drama channel last night, and featured twenty-one Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Big Finish actress Walker voiced MedTech Liv Chenka for Robophobia (2011), Dark Eyes 2Dark Eyes 3 (both 2014), Dark Eyes 4Doom Coalition 1 (both 2015) and Doom Coalition 2 (2016), and was the Narrator of The World Beyond the Trees (2017)
  • Alastair Parker (PC) was Limpy in The Girl Who Died
  • Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch (North) voiced famous Egyptologist, Howard Carter for Forty Five: Fake Gods (BF, 2008)
  • Alexander Siddig (Khalduin) voiced Rosto for both Sisters of the Flame and Vengeance of Morbius (both 2008), the Captain for The Wreck of the Titan (2010), the Sultan for 1001 Nights (2012), and Marcus Gifford for The Diary of River Song (2015)
  • Lucy O'Connell (Doctor) was the Olive Woman in The Lazarus Experiment
  • Christopher Fairbank (Blaney) voiced Doc Baroque for The Scapegoat (BF, 2009) and the Professor for The Wreck of the Titanand was Fenton (pictured) in Flatline
  • Steve Robinson was also first assistant director on The Beast Below and Victory of the Daleks
  • Julie Cox (Maxi) voiced Big Finish companion Mary Shelley for The Company of Friends: Mary's Story (2009), The Silver TurkThe Witch from the Well and Army of Death (all 2011)
  • Sophie Okonedo (Amanda) played Queen Liz 10 in The Beast Below and The Pandorica Opens, and voiced Alison Cheney for Scream of the Shalka
  • Jo Joyner (Stephanie) was Lynda Moss in Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways
  • Richard Braine (Phil) voiced Percy Closed for The English Way of Death (BF, 2015)
  • Mark Lewis Jones (Wooley) voiced Professor Oliver Mortlake for The Darkness of Glass (BF, 2015)
  • Big Fiish actor Tim Bentinck (RAF Voice) voiced both Giles Moreau and Jenkins for Destination Nerva, Roger Buchman for Wirrn Isle (both 2012), Mr. Williams for the third series of Counter Measures, Nathaniel Whitlock for Moonfleshboth Ned Bones and Lord Burghley for Philip Hinchcliffe Presents: The Devil's Armada (all 2014), Colonel Radlett for The English Way of Death, both Chowdras and the Governor for Planet of the Rani (both 2015), General Kallix for The War Doctor: Infernal Devices (2016), and Wakefield, Cabby and Stonegood for The Contingency Club (2017)

  • Leo Bill (Woods) was the Pilot in A Christmas Carol
  • Roger Brierley (Getty) was Trevor in The Daleks' Master Plan: Volcano, and provided the voice of Drathro in The Mysterious Planet
  • Big Finish actor Michael Cochrane (Vaughan) was Charles Cranleigh in Black Orchid, Redvers Fenn-Cooper in Ghost Light, and voiced Lieut. Col. Brook for No Man's Land (2006), Murgat for Brotherhood of the Daleks (2008), Colonel Spindleton for both Trail of the White Worm and The Oseidon Adventure (2012), the Creevix for Destiny of the Doctor: The Time Machine (2013), and Geralk for both The Fate of Krelos and Return to Telos (2015)
  • writer (of part 3) Matthew Graham also penned Fear HerThe Rebel Flesh and The Almost People
  • costume supervisor Fiona McCann was an assistant on Love & Monsters
  • Neal Champion was the SFX supervisor on An Adventure in Space and Time too
