Doctor Who Vs. Spooks, Series 9

Regular series actors Peter Firth, Nicola Walker, and
Sharad Latif returned (as Harry Pearce, Ruth Evershed
and Tariq Masood) for the ninth and penultimate season
of this award-winning spy drama, which was first
broadcast on BBC One in the autumn of 2010.
This eight-part series saw the introduction of Sophia
Myles and Max Brown (as new MI5 officers, Beth Bailey
and Dimitri Levendis), the brief return of Hugh Simon
 (as analyst Malcolm Wynn-Jones), then the departure
of Richard Armitage (Section D chief Lucas North).
Another repeat run of season nine concluded on the
Sony TV channel this week, and featured another
eighteen Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Myles (Beth) played Reinette (pictured) in The Girl in the Fireplace
  • Iain Glen (Edwards) was Father Octavian in The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone
  • Laila Rouass (Maya) was UNIT Colonel Tia Karim in The Sarah Jane Adventures: Death of the Doctor
  • Donald Sumpter (Ambassador) was Enrico Casali in The Wheel in Space, Commander Ridgeway in The Sea Devils, and President Rassilon in Hell Bent
  • Big Finish actor Trevor Cooper (Deery) was Takis in Revelation of the Daleks and Friar Tuck in Robot of Sherwood, and voiced Sir Ralph for The Doomwood CurseShanks for The Haunting of Thomas Brewster (both 2008), Judah for The Beast of OrlokSmithy for Castle of Fear (both 2009), both Captain Maddox and Stennan for Army of Death (2011), both the Colonel and Kimball for The Emerald Tiger (2012), and both Jonathan Jaggers and Mr. Preddle for Judoon in Chains (2016)
  • Colin Salmon (Beecher) was Dr. Moon in Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, and voiced Trooper Salway for Wirrn Dawn (BF, 2009)
  • Elizabeth Tan (Embassy Girl) was Anna Zhou in Journey's End
  • Nigel Whitmey (Suit) was Simmons in Dalek
  • Paul Freeman (Cohen) voiced Jalnik for The Foe from the Future (BF, 2012)
  • Akin Gazi (Jad) was Carter in The Doctor's Daughter
  • Joseph Long (Elwan) was Rocco Colasanto in Turn Left
  • Adam Recht was film editor on A Christmas Carol too
