Doctor Who Vs. Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 6

Regular series actors David Suchet (as Hercule Poirot), Hugh Fraser (Captain Hastings), Philip Jackson (Inspector Japp), and Pauline Moran (Felicity Lemon) all returned for four new period crime dramas from Carnival Films, which first 
aired in the winters of 1995 and 1996.
Poirot's festive adventure (known in America as 
A Holiday For Murder) was published in 1938. 
BBC Radio 4 dramatised the case in 2005, with
Peter Sallis as the Belgian detective. 
Hickory Dickory Dock (Hickory Dickory Death 
in the US) was issued in 1955.
Murder on the Links, Christie's third novel,
appeared in 1923 and was also adapted for
radio in 1980, again starring John Moffat as
Dumb Witness (released in 1937) was based
on The Incident of the Dog's Bell, a lost short story that was only published
in 2009. 
Another repeat run of the feature-length mysteries began on ITV Encore yesterday, and featured thirteen Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Big Finish artist Andree Bernard (Magdalene) was Dolly Bailey in The Shakespeare Code, and voiced Ellen Green for Blue Forgotten Planet (2009), Erisi for The Entropy Composition, Lorelei for Paradise 5 (both 2010), Joanna Slade for The Feast of Axos (2011), Dr. Paignton for The Last Adventure: The Red House, and both Tethneka and Carter for Terror of the Sontarans (both 2015)
  • Vernon Dobtcheff (Lee) was an Alien Scientist in The War Games, and voiced Dadda Desaka for The Cradle of the Snake (BF, 2010), Shamur for The Children of Seth (BF, 2011), and Jorenzo Zorn for The Genesis Chamber (BF, 2016)
  • Sasha Behar (Pilar) was Sister Spurrina in The Fires of Pompeii
  • George Little (Dicker) was Haroun ed-Din in The Crusade
  • Christopher Webber (Steward) voiced Harding Wellman for Winter for the Adept (BF, 2000)

    • Alec Linstead (Pharmacist) was Sergeant Osgood in The Daemons, Arnold Jellicoe in Robot, and Arthur Stengos in Revelation of the Daleks
    • Brian McDermott (Inspector) was Sheard in Time Flight

    • Howard Lee (Golfer) was Dr. Gachet in The Pandorica Opens
    • Sean Clayton was assistant director on Dalek and Father's Day too

    • Jonathan Newth (Grainger) was Orfe in Underworld
