Doctor Who Vs. Spooks, Series 7

Regular series actors Peter Firth, Miranda Raison,
Hermione Norris, and Hugh Simon all returned for
the seventh season of this award-winning spy drama, which was first broadcast on BBC1 in the autumn of
2008.
This series saw the departure of Rupert Penry-Jones
(as Section D chief Adam Carter), Alex Lanipekun
(officer Ben Kaplan), and Gemma Jones (traitorous
analyst Connie James). Former Robin Hood actor,
Richard Armitage first appeared here as ex-MI5
agent Lucas North.
The eight-part season began another repeat run on
the Sony TV channel last night, and featured twenty-
one Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • directors Colm McCarthy (parts 1 and 2) and Peter Hoar (3 and 4) also helmed The Bells of Saint John and A Good Man Goes to War resoectively
  • writers Neil Cross (parts 1, 2 and 8) and James Moran (7) also scripted The Rings of Akhaten and Hide, and The Fires of Pompeii respectively
  • Norris (Ros Myers, 2006-09) played Captain Lundvik in Kill the Moon
  • Robert Glenister (Home Secretary) was Salateen in The Caves of Androzani
  • Damian Bromley was the cinematographer on The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone too
  • editor Jamie Pearson also edited nine stories (from The Eleventh Hour to The Angels Take Manhattan) and The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot
  • Marcia Ashton (Mrs. Moore) voiced Karna for The Beautiful People (BF, 2007)
  • Tariq Jordan (Jawad) was a Rep in Planet of the Ood
  • Ariyon Bakare (Nadif) was Leandro in The Woman Who Lived
  • Jane Perry (Laurie) voiced Katherine Chambers for both The Gathering (BF, 2006) and The Reaping (BF, 2008)
  • Paul Kulik (Ossectic) was a stuntman on Rose
  • Simon Williams (Denham) was Group Captain 'Chunky' Ian Gilmore (pictured) in Remembrance of the Daleks, a role he reprised for Big Finish's spin-off audio series, Counter Measures (2012 to present), 1963: The Assassination Games (2013) and The Reesinger Process (2014) - he also voiced Paul Addison and Shara for Nekromanteia (2003)
  • Jeanie Gold (Customer) was a Neighbour in The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky and The End of Time, Part 1
  • Paul Rhys (Meynell) voiced Max Paul for The Scapegoat (BF, 2009)
  • Stephen Greif (Denizet) voiced Kwundaar for Primeval (BF, 2001), and Gurney for The Infinite Quest
  • Amelda Brown (Bag Lady) voiced Margaret for The Adventure Games: The Gunpowder Plot
  • Nick Roberts was also a sound recordist on The Time of AngelsFlesh and StoneThe Vampires of VeniceCold Blood and The Lodger
  • Julie Ankerson was also foley artist on over a hundred adventures (from Rose to Death In Heaven), thirty-one Torchwood stories, and twenty-three episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures
  • Rob Arrowsmith was also a camera operator on The Pandorica OpensThe Big Bang and A Christmas Carol
