Doctor Who Vs. Silent Witness, Series 20

The twentieth season of 
the popular crime drama concluded on BBC One last night, and again starred 
Emilia Fox (a veteran of 
126 episodes from 2004) 
and David Caves as 
doctors Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson (since
2013). The Home Office forensic pathologists (all 
based in London's Lyell Centre) were again joined 
by Clarissa Mullery and 
Dr. Thomas Chamberlain (since 2014), played by Liz Carr and Richard Lintern. Another series is planned for 2018.
The programme, which began in 1996, has been broadcast in over 200 territories,
and the latest five, two-part mysteries featured nineteen Doctor Who cast and 
crew connections:

Identity (UK TX: January 2 & 3 2017)
  • Kevork Malikyan (Khoury) was Kemel Rudkin in The Wheel in Space
  • Gerald Kyd (Hamed) voiced Martin Regan, Sir Robert Devere and Mulryne all for 1963: The Assassination Games (2013), and Lt. Maurizio Savinio for Aquitaine (2016)
  • Tim Palmer was also the cinematographer on Let's Kill HitlerThe Wedding of River Song and Nightmare in Silver
  • Louise Page was also the costume designer on forty-six episodes (from The Christmas Invasion to The End of Time) and Music of the Spheres
  • Anthony Coombes was film editor on The Wedding of River Song too
  • Owen Charnley was also the assistant grip on twenty-eight stories (from The Impossible Astronaut to The Day of the Doctor)
Discovery (UK TX: January 9 & 10)
  • Darren Morfitt (DCI Steemson) was Brother Marco in The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone
  • Struan Rodger (Liston) provided the voice of the Face of Boe in New Earth and Gridlock, and was Clayton in The Woman Who Lived
Remembrance (UK TX: January 16 & 18)
  • Eva Pope (DI Ashton) voiced Nia Brusk for Army of Death (BF, 2011)
  • Sarah Smart (Ali) was Jennifer in The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People, and voiced Laura Corbett for The Crooked Man (BF, 2014)
  • Jo Stone Fewings (Tresize) was the Male Programmer [Davitch Pavale] in Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways, and voiced Major Wheatley for The Churchill Years 1: Hounded (BF, 2016)
Covenant (UK TX: January 23 & 24)
  • Lee Ross (McAteer) was the Boatswain in The Curse of the Black Spot
  • Lisa Kay (Carol) voiced Beatrix for The Witch from the Well (BF, 2011) and Alayna for Empire of the Racnoss (BF, 2017)
Awakening (UK TX: January 30 & 31)
  • Big Finish artist Raquel Cassidy (Dr. Vasquez) was Miranda Cleaves in The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People, and voiced Mesca for The Judgement of Isskar (2009), Inquisa for Paradoxicide, Destiny Gray for Recorded Time: Question Marks (both 2011), Dr. Alison Foster for Destination: Nerva (2012), and Guinevere Godiva for Jago & Litefoot 5 (2013)
  • Drew Armstrong (IO co-ordinator) and Alice Jowitt (data transfer operator) both worked on all of Series 10
  • Matthew Burlem was also a digital artist on eleven episodes (from The Eleventh Hour to The Time of the Doctor)
  • Timothy Wood was the second assistant director on K9 too
  • Kiaran Murray Smith was also the first assistant director on Amy's Choice and The Lodger
