Doctor Who Vs. Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 10

David Suchet returned as Agatha Christie's Belgian
sleuth Hercule Poirot for another four feature-length serials, first transmitted on ITV in early 2006.
Actress Zoe Wanamaker (see The End of the World
and New Earth) was introduced in the second serial
as Ariadne Oliver, a friend of Poirot and a mystery novelist, a creation whom Christie herself said had
"a strong dash of myself". Mrs. Oliver first appeared in Cards on the Table, where her book The Body
in the Library is mentioned - a title actually used by
Christie in 1942. Oliver featured in six further books, including The Pale Horse (1961), where she met
the Calthorps, friends of Miss Marple in The Moving Finger (1942). Other novels by Oliver were discussed
by characters in The Clocks (1963), and, like Christie
and her contemporaries, the fictional writer was a
member of the Detection Club.
Another repeat run of season ten began on ITV Encore last night, and
featured William Russell (pictured as Lanscombe in part three) and
thirty further Doctor Who cast and crew connections:
