Doctor Who Vs. Flash Gordon

This cult science fiction action film was
based on the King Features comic strip
created by Alex Raymond in 1934.
After a long development process,
Universal released the film in late 1980.
Although a box office success in the UK,
the Anglo-American feature performed
poorly abroad - it is notable for the
 soundtrack composed and performed
by Queen. A sequel was planned but
never produced, and several television adaptations appeared before and since.
Sam Jones, Melody Anderson and Topol
portrayed Steven Gordon, Dale Arden
and Professor Zarkov. Max Von Sydow
played alien tyrant, Emperor Ming the
Merciless. Shown again on Film4 today,
Flash Gordon featured twenty-six Doctor
