Doctor Who Vs. Luther, Series 4

Idris Elba returned as the titular Metropolitan Police 
detective, DCI John Luther for the fourth series of BBC 
One's dark psychological crime drama, first shown in 
December 2015.
Michael Smiley and Dermot Crowley reprised their 
regular roles as Benny Silver and DSU Schenk, whilst 
Warren Brown made a cameo appearance as DS Justin 
Ripley. Darren Boyd and Rosie Leslie debuted here as 
DCI Bloom and DS Lane.
Both Elba and Neil Cross have confirmed there are 
plans for a fifth TV season, a film version of Luther
and a spin-off series based around killer Alice Morgan
(Ruth Wilson's character from past seasons). 
A repeat run of the two-part drama (again written by
 Crossconcluded on W (formerly the Watch channel) 
last night, and featured nine Doctor Who cast and 
crew connections:

  • Big Finish guest star John Heffernan (Rose) voiced Vonchef for Revenge of the Swarm (2004), and the Impostor for Doom Coalition 3 (2016)
  • Michael Obiora (Minty) played Billy Shipton in Blink
  • Clem So (Dealer) was a Mongolian in Asylum of the Daleks, an Artisan in The Angels Take Manhattan, a Tourist in The Day of the Doctor, a Clockwork Droid in Deep Breath, a Bank Client in Time Heist, and an uncredited Alien in Face the Raven and The Husbands of River Song
  • Marcus Wilson also produced twenty-eight adventures (from The Impossible Astronaut to The Time of the Doctor), and The Doctors Revisited 
  • Thomas Alibone and Simon Maloney were both assistant directors on An Adventure in Space and Time too
  • Claire Lawrence was a stunt performer on The Return of Doctor Mysterio too
  • Leon Harris was also a SFX technician on The Snowmen, The Crimson Horror, Nightmare in Silver, The Name of the Doctor and The Day of the Doctor
  • Gary Norman was also the grip on twenty-five stories (from A Christmas Carol to the 50th Anniversary special)
