Doctor Who Vs. Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 11

David Suchet returned as the Queen of
Crime's Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot for
another three feature-length serials, first transmitted in the autumn of 2008, whilst
the fourth part only aired fifteen months
later. Zoe Wanamker reprised her role of
fellow amateur detective, Ariadne Oliver.
The first mystery was the second adaptation
of Mrs. McGinity's Dead (published in 1952),
and followed MGM's Murder Most Foul (1964).
BBC Radio 4 Extra last aired their treatment
(with John Moffat as Poirot) in 2012.
Appointment With Death (issued in 1938)
was staged in the West End in 1945, and a
film version (which starred Peter Ustinov as
Poirot) was released in 1988. Both Cat Among
the Pigeons (1959), and Third Girl (1966),
were dramatised for the first time here.
Another repeat run of the eleventh season began on ITV Encore last night, and featured Mark Gatiss (pictured right as Leonard Boynton in the final story, and
