Doctor Who Vs. Marple: At Bertram's Hotel

This mystery opened ITV's third season of Marple,
and was loosely based on Agatha Christie's fifty-
sixth novel, published in 1965. This second TV
adaptation changed the plot, characters and
setting, and was Geraldine McEwan's penultimate appearance as Marple.
One of Miss Marple's few outings from St. Mary
Mead finds her staying in London. Bertram's, the
fictional hotel featured in the story, is thought to
have been inspired by Brown's, a favourite haunt
of Christie's, but could also have been based on
another Mayfair hotel, Fleming's.
The serial (originally shown in September 2007)
was repeated again on ITV3 today, and starred
Peter Davison (as Hubert Curtain) and twelve
other Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Dan Zeff was the director of Love & Monsters too
  • Tom MacRae also scripted Rise of the CybermenThe Age of Steel, The Girl Who Waited and the unmade Century House
