for Northern culture in
general and 'Manc-
hattan' in particular has
resulted in at least eight other dramas set in the
city since Granada's The
Grand in 1997.
Tip Toe is a dark, topical story of online disinformation - here Leo (Alan
Cumming) is gay, and the owner of a bar on Canal Street, whilst Clive
(David Morrissey) is the homophobic nextdoor neighbour.
This five-part suburban thriller began last night - it was produced by
Phil Collinson, and featured Denise Welch, and these fourteen Doctor
Who cast and crew connections:
- Cumming was MacNamara in BBV Productions' The Airzone Solution, then King James I in The Witchfinders, and voiced Mr. Ring-a-Ding for Lux
- Morrissey was Jackson Lake in The Next Doctor
- Paul Rhys (Melba) voiced Max Paul for Big Finish's The Scapegoat (2009)
- Elizabeth Berrington (Stephanie) was Auntie in The Doctor's Wife
- Clare Calbraith (Maggie) voiced a Trooper for Urban Myths, Maria for Son of the Dragon (both 2007), Starling for The Phoenix Strain (2016), and Orla for The Blood Furnace (2017)
- Pooky [born Joanna] Quesnel (Marie) was the Captain in A Christmas Carol, and Dorothea Ames in Class, then voiced Annalise Avenley for The Running Men (2024)
- Charlie [Lomax David] Condou (Curtis) was Gary Gabbastone in The Interstellar Song Contest - he also voiced Crabhead/System/Jarl for World of Damnation and Sweet Salvation (both 2018), Chris for Five Hundred Ways to Kill Your Lover (2025), and Marty for Cloud Eight (2026)
- Luyanda Unati Lewis Nyawo (Judy) voiced Mrs. Polly for Thin Time, the Scaramancer for The War Master 5 (both 2020), Guinevere for The Lone Centurion 2, the Woman for Mind of the Hodiac (both 2022), Nalah Masai for The Silent Priest and The Silent City (2024), and Scientist Edler for The Memory Thieves (2025)
- Peter Caulfield (Dave) was Dahh-Ren in Oxygen, and voiced Various for Cold Fusion (2016)
- Gordon Seed was stuntman on twenty-one stories, and also stunt co-ordinator on another thirteen (from The Idiot's Lantern to Kill the Moon)
- Jolyon Benson (Frederic) was an Extra in The War Between the Land and the Sea (4)
- Peter Hoar was director of A Good Man Goes to War too
- Andy Pryor was also casting director on the revived run, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, The War Between the Land and the Sea, Tales of the TARDIS and An Adventure in Space and Time
- Matt Gray was cinematographer on The Star Beast too
