Monday, December 8th:
John Winston Lennon,
aged 40, was shot four
times in the back by
Mark Chapman, who
earlier today had asked
the former Beatle for
his autograph. Lennon
was rushed from the
scene - the Dakota
apartment building in
Manhattan - with his
wife Yoko Ono, to St. Luke's Roosevelt
Hospital Centre, where
he died.
Chapman pleaded guilty
to killing Lennon, and
blamed voices in his
head. He is currently
serving a life sentence
in Attica prison, Wyoming county, NY.
