Doctor Who Vs. The Hound of the Baskervilles (2002)

Produced by Tiger Aspect for BBC1,
this adaptation of Conan Doyle's most
famous and prolific Sherlock Holmes
mystery was shot extensively on
location in Liverpool, Cumbria and the
Isle of Man.
The narrative here differs considerably
from the original novel, published in
1902, following serialisation in The Strand magazine.
First shown in the UK on Boxing Day
2002 (and in America a month later),
Holmes and Watson were portrayed
here by Australian Richard Roxburgh
(pictured right) and Liverpool-born
Ian Hart (left). Roxburgh then played
Holmes' nemesis, Moriarty in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, whilst Hart later depicted Conan
Doyle in Finding NeverlandA sequel (also written by Allan Cubitt),
The Case of the Silk Stocking saw Hart reprise his role opposite
Rupert Everett's Holmes.
