Christie was now portrayed by Helen Baxendale - she succeeded Ruth Bradley & Lyndsey Marshal |
This Channel 5 period crime drama (first shown in late 2020) was inspired by Agatha Christie's real-life antipathy towards her most famous creation. Tom Dalton's third screenplay to feature the Queen of Crime (following 2018's The Truth of Murder, and The Curse of Ishtar in 2019) was now set during the London Blitz of 1940. Christie (1890-1976) finally killed off Hercule Poirot in Curtain - only published in 1975, over thirty years after its inception. Repeated on 5 tonight, the feature length thriller featured seven Doctor Who cast/crew connections:
- Big Finish actor Alistair Petrie (Campbell here; Jones in Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, 2022) voiced Major Harris/German Lieutenant for Criss-Cross (2015), Julius Caesar for Living History (2016), John for Dethras, Richard Tipple for The Outliers (both 2017), Wallace Richards for Ghost Machines (2020), Magnus Drake for Master! (2021), and the Count for Conflicts of Interest (2023)
- Elizabeth Tan (Jun) was Anna Zhou in Journey's End
- Morgan Watkins (Vella) voiced Ruck for The Dispossessed (2018)
- Scott Chambers (Allen) voiced Andy Clover/Sergeant Webster for Static (2017)
- for Blake Harrison (pictured as Travis) see The Truth of Murder
- Line producer Mick Pantaleo was first assistant director on A Christmas Carol, The Doctor's Wife and Night Terrors
- Blair Mowatt was also composer on Class and The Fan Show, after work as music researcher on Deep Breath
