Doctor Who Vs. Murder is Easy

This period crime drama was based
on Agatha Christie's twenty-fifth
novel (known in America as Easy
to Kill), published in 1939A US
TV version was shown in 1982,
followed by ITV's treatment in
2009, and was now adapted by
Mammoth Screen and BritBox for
BBC1. The two-part mystery con-
cluded last night - it featured

Doctor Who Vs. A Bridge Too Far


Shown on ITV4 today, this epic Anglo-American war film was
based on the 1974 novel by Cornelius Ryan. Directed by Richard
Attenborough, the production chronicled the collapse of Operation
Market Garden in September 1944. Allied forces intended to break
through German lines and seize bridges in the occupied Netherlands, but they failed to cross the river Rhine and expectations of ending
the war by Christmas ceased.
Released by United Artists in 1977, the film starred an international
ensemble cast (led by Dirk Bogarde, Michael Caine, Sean Connery,
Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Edward Fox, Ryan O'Neal, Gene 
Hackman, Robert Redford) and twenty-nine Doctor Who cast
connections:

This version of Charles Dickens'
festive literary classic was a faithful

Doctor Who Vs. Carry On @ 65: Carry On Sergeant


The series of low-budget British comedy features, the iconic Carry
On films, began in 1958 with Carry On Sergeant - shown on Sky
Cinema today.
Based on the play, The Bull Boys, by English novelist RF Delderfield,
Sergeant was not intended to launch a franchise, but due to it's box-
office success, another production, Carry On Nurse, followed a year
later. A further twenty-seven films were released over the next
twenty years, and a final entry, Carry On Columbus was released in
1992.
The cast, led by William Hartnell (pictured as the titular officer,
Grimshawe, and joined here by his co-stars from Granada's The
Army Game, Norman Rossington and Charles Hawtrey), featured
Kenneth Williams, Kenneth Connor, Hattie Jacques, Shirley Eaton,
Bob Monkhouse, Bill Owen, Terry Scott, and ten future Doctor Who
