Whitechapel, the recreation of crimes
in that East End district, began here

ologist Edward Buchan), and Alex
Jennings (Commander Anderson),
depicted many characters named
after real-life figures in the Ripper case - Inspector Joseph Chandler
(1850-1923), Edward Buchan (1859-1888), Sir Robert Anderson
(1841-1918), John Sanders (1862-1901), John McCormack, James

and Alonzo Maduro. Important references to the original murders
were made herein, particularly regarding the canonicity of the
Martha Tabram and Elizabeth Stride killings.
Later investigations focused on present-day parallels with the notorious
Kray twins, the famous Ratcliffe Highway Murders of 1811, the Thames
Torso mysteries of Victorian London (1873/74 and 1887-89), and even
the urban legend of the 'bogeyman'.
