Dickens' literary classic, A Christmas
Carol was released in late 1970, and
remains the only live-action version of
the story to be Oscar nominated.
This faithful retelling of the original
novella (published in 1843), starred
a stellar cast led by Albert Finney
(winner of the Golden Globe award for
his titular role), Alec Guinness (Jacob
Marley), Kenneth More, Roy Kinnear,
and Gordon Jackson.
Shown on channel 5 today, the film
also featured David Collings (Crachit),
Geoffrey Bayldon, and nineteen other
