Lynda La Plante's acclaimed crime
drama returned to ITV in October
2004. David Hayman, Dorian Lough,
and Victoria Smurfit reprised their
respective roles (as DCS Walker, DS
Satchell, and DCI Connor), whilst Sarah Ozeke replaced Inday Ba as DC West.
Like La Plante's earlier hit series Prime
Suspect, the programme employed its
distinctive split-screen technique.
A repeat run of this two-part case
(subtitled Blue Eiderdown) concluded on
Drama last night - it was produced by
Chris Clough, and featured twelve Doctor Who cast/crew connections:

  • Colin Salmon (Thorpe) was Dr. Moon in Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, then voiced Trooper Salway for Big Finish's Wirrn Dawn (2009)
  • Stephen [Vincent] Moore (Saxon) was Eldane in Cold Blood, and voiced Clark Goodman for The Eight Truths and Worldwide Web (both 2009)
  • [Christine] Janine Duvitski [born Drzewicki] (Sandra) voiced Alpha Wheeler for The Jabari Countdown (2018)
  • Nicholas Farrell [born Frost] (Southwood) was Brian Green PM in Torchwood: Children of Earth, then voiced Gammades for Time Reef, Phil for A Perfect World (both 2008), Captain Frank for Last of the Cybermen (2015), and Browman for A Ghost of Alchemy (2023)
  • Michael [John] Attwell (Brian) was Isbur in The Ice Warriors, and Bates in Attack of the Cybermen
  • Frances Barber (Cassandra) played Madame Kovarian throughout the Series six story arc, a role reprised for The Diary of River Song 3 (2018)
  • Chrissie Cotterill (Barbara) was Madame Vernet in Vincent and the Doctor
  • Bean Peel was also stuntman on Father's Day and Night Terrors
  • stunt co-ordinator Neil Finnighan was a stuntman on Dalek
  • SFX designer Tony Harding was VFX designer on The Invisible EnemyThe Power of KrollState of DecayThe King's Demons and The Awakening
  • camera operator Steve Lawes was focus puller on five stories (from Rose to World War Three)
  • Jonathan Allott was also location manager on six episodes (from Planet of the Ood to Forest of the Dead), and The Sarah Jane Adventures
