last night. Set in 1930s Yorkshire,

the programme was based on the

works of Northern vet, Alf Wight

(1916-1995) - he wrote under

the pen-name of James Herriot,

and was portrayed here by Christopher Timothy. Lynda

Bellingham replaced Carol

Drinkwater as Helen Herriot.
