This ITV Studios period crime drama

Doctor Who Vs. James Bond, Part 18: Tomorrow Never Dies

The eighteenth entry in the Bond franchise, and the second to star

Pierce Brosnan as Ian Fleming's

British spy, was released by United

Artists and Eon Productions in

1997. Since no original stories

were left to adapt, this film was

the first to bear no relation to the

writer's estate, so screenplay was provided by Goldeneye writer, Bruce Feirstein. The title was inspired by the Beatles' Revolver track, Tomorrow Never Knows.

Judi Dench and Desmond Llewelyn both returned to their long-running
roles as M and Q. The feature was shot on location in France, Thailand,
Germany, Mexico and England with interiors filmed at the custom-built
007 Stage (opened in 1976) at Pinewood studios. The theme song by
Sheryl Crow was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Grammy award.

season of Granada's acclaimed period

drama. This series (first screened in the

summer of 1985) saw the introduction

acters. Mycroft Holmes was depicted by

Charles Gray (reprised from The Seven-

Per-Cent Solution in 1976), and Colin

Jeavons was Lestrade (following an app-

Doctor Who Vs. Dad's Army

This British comedy film was based on the legendary BBC wartime

sitcom, which ran from 1968 to 1977. The TV series, created by Jimmy

Perry and David Croft, spawned its first film version in 1971, followed

by a radio series (1974-76), and a stageplay (1975) - all starred the

original cast.

The second movie spin-off (set in 1944 after the events depicted in the 

parent show) was filmed in Yorkshire, and was released in February

2016 to mainly negative reviews.

This new iteration focused on the mission of Nazi spy, Rose Winters

(played by Catherine Zeta Jones) to infiltrate the Home Guard of

Walmington-on-Sea in advance of the much feared German invasion 

of Britian.

2007 began with the soap's most watched story

line of the year, the murder of Charlie Stubbs by

Tracy Barlow. The next planned major plot (baby

 Freddie Peacock's abduction) however, was

scrapped with the real-life disappearance of Madeleine McCann in May.

The ITV Catch-up service (now called the Hub)

was launched in June, whilst ratings averaged

ten million for the year.

Watched by 13 million viewers, the Street's
much-loved battleaxe Vera Duckworth was
killed off in January 2008 (with the departure
of Liz Dawn after 33 years in the role), whilst

 a shake-up of  ITV's schedules meant the

Sunday edition of the show was permanently

moved to Friday (now a double-bill). The New

Year also saw the arrival of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan stayed until 2014). The first task for new producer Kim

Crowther (who replaced Steve Frost in July) was to axe the Mortons, who

were replaced by the Windass family. Storylines for 2009 included Kevin

Webster and Molly's affair, the wedding of Steve McDonald and Becky,

Tony Gordon's arrest for murder, and the death of Blanche Hunt. These

A repeat run of the fourth season

of Zenith and Carlton's acclaimed

crime drama (first screened in the

winter of 1990) concluded on ITV4

today.

John Thaw and Kevin Whately port-

rayed the Oxford-based detectives,

DCI Endeavour Morse and DS Robbie

Lewis. Thaw earned the second of

four consecutive BAFTA Best Actor

 nominations for his role here, whilst

the series earned Best Drama awards

in 1992 and 1993.

The four cases (all original screen-

plays) again featured cameos from Morse creator Colin Dexter, Trevor Martin, and a total of twenty-three
