Doctor Who Vs. James Bond, Part 19: The World is Not Enough

ITV's latest Bond season continued tonight

with the nineteenth instalment in Eon's fran-

chise. Released in 1999, the film took its title

from the motto of the Bond family crest in Ian

Fleming's 1963 novel, On Her Majesty's Secret

Service.

Desmond Llewellyn made his final appearance

as MI6's long-serving Quartermaster here opposite John Cleese, who debuted as Q's

successor. Llewellyn died, aged 85, just a

month after the film's premiere.

The production's location filming was under-

taken in Spain, France, Azerbaijan, Turkey,

and the UK, with interiors filmed at Pine-

wood's Bond stage. The film (the first dist-

ributed by MGM) featured Sophie Marceau,

Robert Carlyle, Denise Richards, Robbie

Coltrane, and a total of forty-four Doctor
