Doctor Who Vs. Flash Gordon

This cult science fiction action film
was based on the King Features
comic strip created in 1934 by Alex
Raymond. After a long development
process, Universal released the film
in late 1980. Although a box office
success in the UK, the Anglo-US
production performed poorly abroad,
and is notable for the soundtrack
composed and sung by Queen.
A sequel was planned but never
produced, and several television
adaptations appeared before and
since. Sam Jones, Melody Anderson
and Topol portrayed Steven Gordon,
Dale Arden and Professor Zarkov,
whilst Max Von Sydow played Ming.
Shown on ITV4 last night, the
adventure featured thirty-six
