Doctor Who Vs. Luther, Series 4

Idris Elba returned as the titular Metropolitan Police
detective, DCI John Luther for the fourth series of
BBC1's dark psychological thriller, first shown in
December 2015.
Michael Smiley and Dermot Crowley reprised their
roles as Benny Silver and DSU Schenk, whilst Warren
Brown made a cameo appearance as DS Justin Ripley.
 Darren Boyd and Rose Leslie debuted  here as DCI
 Bloom and DS Lane.
Both Elba and writer Neil Cross confirmed plans for
film version of Luther, and a spin-off series based
around Ruth Wilson's character, killer Alice Morgan.
A repeat run of the two-part case began on U&Drama
last night - it featured these nine Doctor Who cast and
crew connections:
  • Boyd voiced Hemmings for Big Finish's The Shadow of London (2018)
  • John Heffernan (Rose) voiced Vonchef for Revenge of the Swarm (2004), the Nine for The Crucible of Souls (2016), Companion Piece, Relative Time (both 2019) and The Dreams of Avarice (2022), Honos for The Trial of a Time Machine (2018), and Carson Baylis for The Inhuman Empire (2026) 
  • Michael Obiora (Minty) was Billy Shipton in Blink
  • Clem So (Dealer) was a Mongolian in Asylum of the Daleks, Artisan in The Angels Take Manhattan, Tourist in The Day of the Doctor, Clock- work Droid in Deep Breath, Bank Client in Time Heist, Alien in Face the Raven and The Husbands of River Song, Gent in Thin Ice, Guard in Extremis, Corpse in Oxygen, and Pirate in Legend of the Sea Devils
  • Marcus Wilson was also producer of twenty-eight stories (from The Impossible Astronaut to The Time of the Doctor), and The Doctors Revisited 
  • Thomas Alibone and Simon Maloney were both assistant directors on An Adventure in Space and Time too
  • Claire Lawrence was a stunt performer on The Return of Doctor Mysterio too
  • Leon Harris was also a SFX technician on The Snowmen, The Crimson Horror, Nightmare in Silver, The Name of the Doctor and The Day of the Doctor
  • Gary Norman was also the grip on twenty-five stories (from A Christmas Carol to the 50th Anniversary special)
