Superman, Dovemead Ltd's ground

breaking production was based on the

DC Comics character, created by Jerry

Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1933. This

fantasy sequel again starred Christopher

Reeve as alter ego Clark Kent, Margot

Kidder (Lois Lane), and Gene Hackman

(Lex Luthor).

Here, the superhero battles three villains

from his home world - General Zod, Ursa,

and Non (portrayed by Terence Stamp,

Sarah Douglas, and Jack O'Halloran).

Released by Warner Bros in 1980, the

adventure was filmed simultaneously

 with the first instalment from 1977.

Two further sequels followed in 1983

and 1987. Shown on BBC2 tonight,
