British film stable (and the thirteenth
overseen by Rank) was released in late
1973, and is notable as the first title in
the run not to include Kenneth Williams,
Hattie Jacques and Charles Hawtrey in
the cast.
Another project was planned that year
- Carry On Escaping (a wartime spoof)
was scripted by Talbot Rothwell but
never entered pre-production. Other

regulars Sid James, Joan Sims, Bernard Bresslaw, Barbara Windsor, Peter
Butterworth, and Kenneth Connor were
joined by Joan Hickson (her fifth appear-
ance), Patsy Rowlands (her seventh),
Jack Douglas and June Whitfield (their
third series roles). Provisionally titled Carry On Beauty Queen, location
filming was completed in Brighton.
Shown on ITV3 today, the comedy (the most risqué title to date)
featured Dad's Army actors Bill Pertwee and Arnold Ridley, and
twenty-three Doctor Who cast connections:

- for Butterworth and Billy Cornelius see Carry On Screaming!
- Wendy Richard [born Emerton] (Ida) and Ron Tarr (Audience) both reprised their EastEnders roles of Pauline Fowler and Big Ron for Dimensions in Time - Tarr was also Prisoner in Destiny of the Daleks
- Jim Tyson (Judge) was Bald Fat Man in (episode 3 of) The Chase
- [Frederick] Alan Meacham (Audience Member here; Monk in Carry On Abroad; Painter in Carry On Behind) was Servant in The Massacre (4), and Technician in The Silurians (1)
- Cy Town (Photographer) was an uncredited Extra in thirty-five episodes (from The Silurians to The Curse of Fenric) and Dalek operator in every Dalek story from Frontier in Space onwards
- Nick Hobbs (stunt double here; Man in Carry On Dick) made uncredited appearances in The Ambassadors of Death, Terror of the Autons, The Mind of Evil, The Claws of Axos, Day of the Daleks, The Time Monster, both Peladon stories (as Aggedor), The Ark in Space, then was Mr. Nainby in Amy's Choice
