Doctor Who Vs. James Bond, 20: Die Another Day

ITV4's latest Bond season con-
tinued last night with Pierce
Brosnan's swansong - Bond's
 twentieth cinematic assignment
marked the fortieth anniversary
of Dr. No, and was the highest-
grossing entry in the run to date.
Location filming was undertaken
in Iceland, Spain, Hawaii, and
Cornwall's Eden Project (with
interiors shot at Pinewood's Bond
stage), whilst the title song was performed by Madonna.
Released by MGM in 2002, the
production featured Judi Dench,
Halle Berry, Toby Stephens,
Rosamund Pike, and twenty-
three Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Paul [Valentine] Darrow [born Birkby] (Doctor) was Captain [Sam] Hawkins in The Silurians, and Tekker in Timelash, then voiced Kaston Iago for Big Finish's Kaldor City (2002-12), and Guidance for The Next Life (2004)
  • Alan Bond (Reporter) was UNIT Soldier in The Sound of DrumsLast of the Time Lords and Torchwood: Children of Earth
  • Stewart Scudamore (Reporter) voiced Danvers for Hounded (2016), and Ashley Bassett for Traitor's Gate (2023)
  • Trevor White (Jumpmaster here; Voices on Goldeneye 007007 Legends) was James Blake in Rosa, and voiced Buddy Hudson for AudioGo's Starfall (2010)
  • Jamie Cho (Guard) was Colonel Chan in The Star Beast
  • Andy Godbold was also stuntman on The Sarah Jane Adventures: Mona Lisa's Revenge and The Bells of Saint John
  • Nina Armstrong was a stunt performer on The Runaway Bride too
  • Stephanie Carey was also a stunt performer on ten stories (from Voyage of the Damned to The Vanquishers)
