Doctor Who Vs. Carry On Behind

The twenty-seventh entry in
the Carry On franchise was
released in 1975, and was the
first feature not scripted by
Talbot Rothwell since Carry
On Cruising.
Remaining stalwarts Kenneth
Williams, Joan Sims, Kenneth
Connor, and Peter Butterworth
were joined by Liz Frazer, Jack
 Douglas, Windsor Davies, Ian
Lavender, and German actress
Elke Sommer. Sid James was again absent, whilst Bernard
Bresslaw and Patsy Rowlands made their final series appearances here.
The comedy (which utilised the same exteriors at Pinewood as Carry On
Campingwas shown on ITV3 today - it featured seventeen Doctor Who
cast connections:
  • Davies (Ramsden here; Bloomer in Carry On England) was Toby in The Evil of the Daleks
  • George [Michael William] Layton (Doctor) was Technician Penn in The Seeds of Death, and depicted the Doctor in (the unaired French & Saunders sketch) The Silurian Disruption - he then voiced Stefan Lehne for Big Finish's Unto the Breach (2014), Louis Markel/Guard for The Havoc of Empires (2015), and Regis Tel for The Quest of the Engineer (2020)
  • Donald [Marland] Hewlett (the Dean) was Sir George Hardiman in The Claws oAxos
  • Sidney [Charles] Johnson (Man) was Old Man in (episode 3 of) The Mutants
  • Stanley McGeagh (Man) was Allen in Colony in Space (3), and Drew in The Sea Devils
  • Kenneth Waller (Barman) and Roderick Smith (Student) both appeared in The Invisible Enemy as Hedges (2) and Cruikshank
