Doctor Who Vs. Cracker, Series 3

Robbie Coltrane, Geraldine 
Somerville, Lorcan Cranitch, 
Ricky Tomlinson, and Wil
Johnson all returned for three 
new Manchester-based crime
thrillers, whilst Robert Cavanah
joined the cast here as DC Alan
Temple.
This final, full season (written by
Jimmy McGovern and newcomer
Paul Abbott) won another BAFTA Best Drama award for Granada,
whilst Coltrane earned his third consecutive Best Actor prize.
A repeat run of the seven-part series (originally shown in the autumn of
1995) began on ITV3 last night- it featured John Simmand a total of
sixteen Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Liam Cunningham (Grady) was Captain Zhukov in Cold War

  • Vince McGahon was also the Steadicam operator on The Vampires of Venice and Vincent and the Doctor
True Romance (TX: November 20 & 27)
  • Kenneth [Alfred] Gilbert (Father) was Richard Dunbar in The Seeds of Doom
  • Emily [Sian] Joyce (Janice) provided the Clockwork Droid voice for The Girl in the Fireplace, then voiced Lucy Pepperdine for The Quintessence (2024)
  • Bridget Hodgson (Carol) was Captain Marion Price in The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky
