Doctor Who Vs. Carry On Doctor

The fifteenth production (and the 
second with a medical theme)
from the Carry On stable was 
released in 1968. Series stal-
warts Kenneth Williams, Sid 
James, Joan Sims, Bernard Bresslaw, Charles Hawtrey, 
Peter Butterworth, and Jim Dale
were joined here by newcomer
Frankie Howerd (1917-1992),
whilst Hattie Jacques, Barbara
Windsor, and Anita Harris all
returned to the run here.
Shown on ITV3 today, the comedy was the third biggest release at
the UK box office that year (after The Jungle Book and Barbarella-
sequel followed in 1969 - and featured eighteen Doctor Who cast
connections:
  • for Sims (Chloe) see Carry On Nurse
  • for Bresslaw (Biddle) and Julian Holloway (Simmons) see Carry On At Your Convenience
  • for Windsor (Sandra) see Carry On Spying
  • for Butterworth and Simon Cain see Carry On Cowboy
  • Derek Francis (Burke here; Farmer in Carry On Camping Carry On Henry; Bishop in Carry On Loving; Arthur in Carry On Matron; Brother in Carry On Abroad) and Bart Allison [born Henry James Patrick] (Grandad here & Carry On Loving) both appeared in The Romans, as Nero and Maximus Pettulian
  • Stephen Garlick (Boy) was Ibbotson in Mawdryn Undead
  • Cheryl Molineaux (Nurse) was Miss Rutherford in The Ambassadors of Death
  • Jay McGrath (Visitor here; Audience in Carry On Girls) was Worker in (episode 3 of) The War Machines, UNIT Soldier in The Silurians (3), Coven Member in Image of the Fendahl, and Dead Androgum in The Two Doctors (1)
  • Robin Scott (Patient) was Charlie Wise in The Moonbase, and Resistance Man in The War Games (7)
  • Peter [Geoffrey Carey] Jones (Chaplain here; Brigadier in Carry On England) was Narrator of Adventures in Space and Time
  • for Walter Henry, Peter Gilmore, Gertan Klauber, and Jill Goldston see Carry On Cleo
  • stuntman Ken Norris was a Morok Guard in The Space Museum
