Doctor Who Vs. The Medusa Touch

Based on the 1973 novel by Peter Van
Greenaway, this Anglo-French super-
natural thriller starred Burton (1925-
1984) and Lee Remick (1935-1991) as
author John Morlar and his psychiatrist
Dr. Zonfield. French actor Lino Ventura
played Brunel, the Parisian detective on Scotland Yard's exchange scheme.
The production was ITC Entertainment's fifteenth cinema feature, and was
released by Warner Bros. in 1978. Screened on Legend today, the film featured Derek JacobiIan Marter, Jeremy Brett, Michael Hordern,
Gordon Jackson, and twelve other Doctor Who cast/crew connections:

  • John Normington (Copley) was Trau Morgus in The Caves of Androzani, and Trevor Sigma in The Happiness Patrol
  • Malcolm Tierney (Deacon) was Doland in Terror of the Vervoids
  • Wendy [Thompson] Gifford (Receptionist) was [Jan] Garrett in The Ice Warriors
  • Maurice O'Connell (DS Robbins) was Cockerill in Frontios
  • Mark Jones (DS Hughes) was Arnold Keeler in The Seeds of Doom
  • Victor Winding (Officer) and Tina Simmons (Stand-in) both appeared in The Faceless Ones, as Spencer and Passenger - Simmons began her career as Inferno customer in (episode 1 of) The War Machines
  • John Flanagan (PC) co-wrote Meglos
  • Christopher Burgess (Pilot) was Swann in The Enemy of the World, Professor George Philips in Terror of the Autons, and Barnes in Planet of the Spiders
  • SFX supervisor Nick Allder was film cameraman on The Invisible Enemy
  • Martin Bower was model maker on Earthshock (1) too
  • Doug Ferris (optical effects) was matt artist on Dr. Who and the Daleks
