Doctor Who Vs. Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 1

London Weekend Television's acclaimed
period crime drama began in 1989 - David
Suchet's portrayal of the Queen of Crime's
creation is now regarded as the definitive Hercule Poirot.
Hugh Fraser, Phillip Jackson and Pauline
Moran also joined the series as Captain
Hastings, Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon. 
The programme endured until late 2013,
when ITV Studios concluded their adapt-
ations of all seventy of Christie's works with Curtain, the Belgian's last case.
Suchet (born 1946) was later cast as the Landlord for Knock Knockwhilst Fraser
and Jackson both starred in Big Finish plays.
Five of the serials here were based on short stories from Poirot's Early Cases (published
in 1974), three more from Murder in the
Mews and Other Stories  (1937), and two from The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding (1960). A repeat run of the first, ten-part season began on ITV3 last night - the mysteries featured Geoffrey BeeversCaroline JohnMary
Tamm, and a total of thirty-eight Doctor Who cast and crew connections:
