Doctor Who Vs. Agatha Christie's Poirot, Series 12

Suchet later played the
Landlord in Knock Knock
David Suchet again portrayed the
Queen of Crime's Belgian sleuth in
four feature-length period crime
dramas for ITV1.
Three Act Tragedy (published in 1935)
followed Warner Bros' TV version of
1986 (with Peter Ustinov as Poirot),
and Hallowe'en Party was issued in
1969. Murder on the Orient Express
was the writer's most successful book
to date, and remains Poirot's most
renowned case. Serialised as Murder
in the Calais Coach in America, the
novel was issued as Murder on the
Train in 1934.
Christie based her story on the
recent kidnap and murder of Charles
Lindbergh's baby son, dubbed the
Crime of the Century in 1932, and
the novelist herself was stranded on
the famous train for 24 hours in 1931.
The acclaimed Oscar-winning adapt-
ation of the mystery was released in 1974, with Poirot played by Albert
Finney, whilst Kenneth Branagh depicted the Belgian for Fox's recent
version. The Clocks was published in 1963.
A repeat run of the twelfth and penultimate season of Poirot began
on ITV3 today - it featured a total of forty-five Doctor Who cast and
