The third season of ITV Studio's period crime
drama concluded on New Year's Day 2009 with
this mystery, loosely based on Agatha Christie's
final Miss Marple novel (published in 1971 after
serialisation in Woman's Realm).
Geraldine McEwan's final appearance in the title
role originally aired in the Mystery! strand for PBS
in July 2007. McEwan (1932-2015) was succeeded
by Julia McKenzie (born 1941) for the next eleven
cases. The whodunnit was repeated on ITV3 today
- it featured Richard E Grant, Ruth Wilson, George
Cole, Amanda Burton, and twelve Doctor Who cast
and crew connections:
- Lee [David] Ingleby (DC Hards) voiced Samson Griffin for Big Finish's Terror Firma (2005)
- Dan [Jonathan] Stevens (Faber) voiced Rick AusGarten for The Cradle of the Snake (2010)

- Ronni Ancona (Amanda) voiced Joanie Carrington for The Side of the Angels (2017), and Thana for Relative Time (2019) and The Dreams of Avarice (2022)
