Short-lived British film company
Tigon Films was founded to compete
with the Sixties horror productions
from Hammer and Amicus. This
low-budget feature was released in
1968 - here, a scientist has created
a creature (masquerading as his
daughter) capable of transforming
into a giant moth that feasts on
human blood.
Shown on Legend Extra (formerly
the Horror channel) today, the film
featured Peter Cushing (a genre
stalwart with twenty-four Hammer
credits), and thirteen Doctor Who
cast connections:
- Wanda Ventham (Clare) was Jean Rook in The Faceless Ones, Thea Ransome in Image of the Fendahl, and Faroon in Time and the Rani
- David Griffin (Warrender) was Commander Mitchell in The Sea Devils
- William [Ingham] Wilde (Britewell) was the Draconian Captain in Frontier in Space
- [Thomas] Kevin [Harvest] Stoney (Granger), Roy Evans (Porter) and Malcolm Rogers (Elliott) all starred in The Daleks' Master Plan (as Mavic Chen, Trantis and Count Dracula/Policeman respectively) - Stoney was also Tobias Vaughn in The Invasion, and Tyrum in Revenge of the Cybermen, whilst Evans was also Bert in The Green Death, and Miner in The Monster of Peladon
- Roy Hudd (Smiler) voiced Max Miller for Big Finish's Pier Pressure (2006)
- Simon [born Terence] Cain (Withers) was Curly in The Enemy of the World, then a titular reptilian in The Silurians
- Robert [Chattey] Cawdron (Chief Constable) was Dr. Bruno Taltalian in The Ambassadors of Death
- Kenneth Colley (James) voiced Cristophe Zarodnix for Sisters of the Flame and The Vengeance of Morbius (2008)
- John Scott Martin (Snaflebum) appearanced in seventy-six episodes (usually as a Dalek operator, from The Web Planet to Remembrnce of the Daleks)
- Michael Mundell (Student) was Jasko in The Invasion of Time
- Robin Wentworth [born Victor Roy Wheeler] (Starkadder) was Professor Horner in The Daemons
