Doctor Who: Series 11 News

BBC Worldwide's annual showcase event was held at the Echo Arena in 
Liverpool yesterday. Both Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall attended 
the press junket along with over 700 of the world's top TV buyers, but 
the highlight for Whovians was the unveiling of the new Doctor Who logo.
Designed by Little Hawk to represent the new era, the updated logo and insignia also signify the programme as a global brand. A brief animation
was released which featured sound effects from musician Matthew Herbert.
Since the appointment of a new showrunner and the casting of the first 
female Doctor and her new companions, the following information from 
Series 11 has been revealed:

  • Doctor Who will return to BBC One in October
  • the ten-part season may be shown on Sunday nights
  • Matt Strevens and Sam Hoyle join Chibnall as executive producers
  • Jamie Childs and Sallie Aprahamian assigned as directors
  • composer on the revived run since 2005, Murray Gold left the show after completing work on Twice Upon a Time
  • SFX house Milk VFX have been replaced by Double Negative (Blade Runner 2049)
  • location filming has been undertaken in Whittaker's native Yorkshire, Wales and South Africa
