Doctor Who Vs. Broadchurch, Series 1

This multi-award winning crime drama from
Kudos and Shine production companies was
chosen to launch the ITV Encore channel in
June 2014, and another repeat run began
 on ITV last night.
Chris Chibnall devised Broadchurch after
his work on ITV1's long-running legal drama,
Law & Order: UK (2009 to 2014) motivated
him to expand his storytelling by asking "what
happened to [the victim's relatives after] they
left the screen?" Chibnall also scripted two
sequel series for ITV and the ten-part
American remake, Gracepoint, which
premiered on Fox in October 2014.
Here, newly promoted DI Alec Hardy (played
by David Tennant) and DS Ellie Miller
(Olivia Coleman) investigate the discovery
of 11 year old Danny Latimer's body on
the beach at Broadchurch - a death that
profoundly affects the small seaside comm-
unity in Dorset.
