Doctor Who Vs. James Bond, Part 15: A View to a Kill

Moore was knighted in
2003 for his services as
UNICEF ambassador -
he died of cancer in
April 2017, aged 89
ITV's latest Bond film season continued
last night with the fourteenth entry in
Eon's franchise, Roger Moore's swansong.
Although another original screenplay, the
title was taken from Ian Fleming's 1960 Bond anthology, For Your Eyes Only.
The feature's main location filming was
undertaken in Iceland, San Francisco,
France, and Switzerland, with interiors
again filmed at Pinewood studios. Duran
Duran provided the opening theme song.
The production also marked the last
appearance of Lois Maxwell (1927-2007) as Moneypenny, her role since Dr. No.
Released in 1985, Moore's seventh and
 final assignment as Bond featured
Christopher Walkden, Grace Jones,
Patrick Macnee, and twenty-nine
Doctor Who cast/crew connections:

  • David [Nicholas] Yip (Chuck Lee) and Ron Tarr (Guard) both appeared in Destiny of the Daleks, as Veldan and Prisoner - Yip then voiced Inspector Yew/Curly/Tourist for The Girl Who Never Was, Kennedy for The Fearless (both 2007), and Hector for Evolution (2013)
  • Tony [Dominic] Sibbald (Foreman) was Huckle in Terror of the Zygons
