Doctor Who Vs. Night of the Big Heat

Shown on Legend Extra today,
this British thriller was based on
the 1959 novel of the same name
by prolific sci-fi and crime writer
John Lymington.
Here, whilst Britain shivers in
deepest winter, the remote
Scottish isle of Fara experi-
ences an inexplicable heatwave
- the result of an alien incursion.
The story was first adapted for ITV's Play of the Week in 1960,
and starred Bernard Cribbins,
Bernard Archard, and Leonard
Grahame. Released in the UK by Planet Films in 1967 (then in America in
1971 as Island of the Burning Damned), the production featured genre
