Doctor Who Vs. Casualty, Series 13


Series regularDerek Thompson, Ian Bleasdale, Barbara Marten, 
Claire Goose, Donna Alexander, Jonathan Kerrigan, and Vincenzo
 Pellegrino all returned for the thirteenth season of BBC1's long-running medical drama.
Joining the programme here were Robert Gwilym (as consultant 
Max Gallagher), Gerald Kyd (SHO Sean Maddox), Jan Anderson
 (nurse Chloe Hill), and Paul Aron (manager Adam Osman). Cathy
 Shipton reprised her role of Duffy, whilst Paterson Jospeh (Mark
Grace) and Rebecca Lacey (George Woodman) had both left the 
show by the series' conclusion.
This run established storylines and characters for spin-off drama 
Holby City, which began in January 1999 - Michael French and 
Nicola Stephenson guest starred here as Dr. Nick Jordan and
Julie Fitzjohn.
A repeat run of the twenty-eight part series (originally broadcast
from September 1998 to March 1999) began on Drama today - it
featured a total of forty-seven Doctor Who cast/crew connections:

  • new Casualty and Holby City executive producer Mal Young held the post until 2005, when he moved onto both the inaugural seasons of the revived series and Doctor Who Confidential
  • Kyd [born Gerasimos Awkoumides] voiced Martin Regan/Sir Robert Devere/Stephen Mulryne for Big Finish's 1963: The Assassination Games (2013), and Lieutenant Maurizio Savinio for Aquitaine (2016), then was General Logan in War of the Sontarans
