Doctor Who Vs. The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, Series 1

Following Granada's The Return of Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke

next portrayed the iconic duo in the West End

production of The Secret of Sherlock Holmes.

Specially written by TV screenwriter Jeremy 
Paul, the play was staged at the Wyndham 
Theatre in 1988 and 1989.

A repeat run of the fifth series of the acclaimed

period drama (dramatised as The Casebook)

began on ITV4 today.

The final dozen (of fifty-six) Sherlock Holmes

short stories were originally published as The

Case-Book in The Strand magazine between

1921 and 1927.

These six cases originally aired in the winter of

1991 - they featured Michael Jayston, and a

total of fourteen Doctor Who cast and crew

connections:
