Doctor Who Vs. Flash Gordon

This cult science fiction action film was

based on the King Features comic strip

created in 1934 by Alex Raymond. After

a long development process, Universal released the film in late 1980. Although

a box office success in the UK, the

Anglo-US production performed poorly abroad, and is notable for the sound-

track composed and sung by Queen.

The planned sequel was never made,

and several television adaptations have

appeared before and since.

Sam Jones, Melody Anderson and

Topol portrayed Steven Gordon, Dale Arden and Professor Zarkov, whilst Max

Von Sydow was Ming.

Shown on ITV4 today, the adventure
