Doctor Who Vs. A Christmas Carol (1999)

This version of Charles Dickens' festive

literary classic was a faithful retelling of the

original novella (published in 1843) with a

cast led by Patrick Stewart (nominated for

 an Emmy award for his role of Ebenezer

Scrooge).

Shown on Channel 5 today, this Anglo-

American TV movie (released in late 1999)

featured Richard E Grant, Dominic West,

• Ian McNeice (Fezziwig) played Winston Churchill in The Beast Below, Victory of the Daleks, The Pandorica Opens and The Wedding of River Song - a role reprised by Big Finish for The Churchill Years, Their Finest Hour (2018), Subterfuge and Operation: Hellfire (both 2020) -  he also voiced Zeus for Immortal Beloved (2007), and Reginald Harcourt for The Renaissance Man (2012)
• Saskia Reeves (Mrs. Crachit) and Bruce Alexander (Bennett) both starred in Emissary of the Daleks (2019) - as Carmen Rega and Hingus - whilst Reeves then played Mary Wollstonecraft/Maddelena Fagandini in Delia: The Myths and Legendary Tapes - the latter also voiced Jadzis for The Golden Child (2024)
