Doctor Who Vs. Dorothy L Sayers Mystery: Have His Carcase

The last television adaptations of the
crime novels of Dorothy Sayers
originally aired on BBC1 in 1987 -
they starred Edward Petherbridge as
Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Walter
as Harriet Vane.
This series followed the Corporation's
two live versions of Sayers' stage-
play Busman's Honeymoon (in 1947
and 1957), five TV serials (televised
between 1972 and 1975), and the
Radio 4 treatment in 1981.
This four-part case (shown second in
the run) was based on the writer's
seventh Wimsey novel, published in
1932, and it featured Michael
Troughton, and twenty-four other
Doctor Who cast and crew connections:

  • Brian [John Lumley] Hawksley (Dr. Fenchurch) was Brewster in Black Orchid
  • Trudie Goodwin (Cherie) voiced Faith for The Uncertain Shore (2020), and Galta for Audacity (2023)
  • John Mooney was also sound assistant on Remembrance of the Daleks, Silver Nemesis (3)The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, Battlefield and Ghost Light
